Benefits now reaching beneficiaries because of Aadhaar: Modi Last Updated : 28 Jan 2018 05:26:44 PM IST (File Photo)
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said Aadhaar has lent "great strength" to the country's development and benefits that were earlier going into the wrong hands are reaching the intended beneficiaries.
"Aadhaar has added great strength to India's development," Modi said while addressing the 70th foundation day of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
The Prime Minister decried the practice earlier prevalent where such benefits would be funnelled in the name of any non-existing entity, exploiting the loopholes in the system.
"Such things will not be possible now," he said.
The Prime Minister said he can sense a "feeling of hatred" among people against corruption.
"Earlier people believed nothing happens to the rich and powerful. But things are different today. Three persons who were formerly Chief Ministers are languishing in jail for their corruption," he said.
