The ceremony took place at the Thespians house because Dilip Kumar is unable to move with ease. After discussing on multiple venues, it was then decided that the ceremony will take place inside his bungalow only. Not many people were invited and there were just Saira Banu's family and personal friends. Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fednavis wer also presented Dilip Kumar's autobiography The Substance and the Shadow penned by Udaya Tara Nayar. The HM promised that he would read it on his way back to Delhi. At a high tea after the award ceremony major works of the thespian were discussed. The whole VIP gentry were at awe of the great actor. Dilip Kumar is not very receptive and responsive bout his surroundings, but his stoic presence was enough to add multi-fold charm to the evening.
