Nanda was very close to the family of B R Chopra. Chopra knew that Nanda had one wish that had not been fulfilled while she worked as a leading lady. The wish was to star opposite Dilip Kumar. She had worked opposite Raj Kapoor in Aashiq and opposite Dev Anand in Hum Dono. So Chopra asked her if she would do a small part as Dilip Kumar’s wife in Mazdoor and Nanda who had retired from films jumped at the offer and accepted the offer.
