Bandit Queen, 1994 This one was based on the life of the bandit queen Phoolan Devi. The idea deserved to be turned into a film. The scene which shocked most viewers was the group rape scene. The film had been well-directed by Shekhar Kapoor, but not many could take that in their stride, including Phoolan Devi herself.
