Samay Exclusive: Nanda’s last interview

Which was the film that gave you stardom? I was known as Baby Nanda till Choti Bahen made an impact on the film fraternity. Film makers saw that I was not a baby anymore. I looked grown up and fit to play leading roles. In 1960 three films helped me to establish myself -- Kanoon, Aanchal and Us Ne Kaha Tha. In 1961 Dev Sahab called me to his office and told me he was going to cast me in one of the leads in Hum Dono and I knew my big moment had arrived because it was a character with a resemblance to my real self and I was confident I would play it with ease.
