Unknown aspects of Silk Smita

When I sit down to remember December born Silk Smita the picture that comes to my mind is of a simple girl who had oiled her hair as it was a holiday for her from shooting and she was not the least bothered that she would give away her real looks before a media person. I met Smita sometime in 1995 in Chennai to invite her to the Screen award function and also to request her to perform live if she cared at the event. She spoke to me in Tamil with a simplicity that was natural. When I mentioned to her that I was expecting to meet a very glamorous woman, she laughed heartily and told me: "That is what everybody thinks. But see how unglamorous I am when there is no makeup on my face and I am not wearing film costumes. This was what fascinated me when I entered films. How people change when we see them on screen and how they are when we meet them in reality".
