CPI-M charges PM with ignoring people's sufferings Last Updated : 01 Jan 2017 09:16:55 AM IST Prime Minister Narendra Modi (file photo)
The CPI-M on Saturday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation move as a "disastrous implementation", and said he is "unrepentant and ignorant on people's sufferings".
Communist Party of India-Marxist Politburo member Mohammad Salim said that Modi's postdemonetisation address to nation was disappointing as there was no substance in his speech, and he even did not apologise for the over 100 deaths due to his move to scrap 500 and 1,000 rupee notes.
"People sacrificed, waited and disappointed. No substance in speech, no apologies for 100 deaths, no information on what all this yielded," Salim tweeted.
"All bravado, all showbiz, no responsible reflection on disastrous implementation. PM is unrepentant and ignorant on people's sufferings," he said in another tweet.
Lambasting the Narendra Modi government's demonetisation move and his Saturday's speech, former West Bengal Finance Minister and CPI-M leader Asim Dasgupta said: "He was not able to declare how much black money was recovered after the demonetisation. He should announce recovery figure."
"Prime Minister omitted able to say how soon the money supply will be restored," he said, adding that he announced some sops which were supposed to be part of budget.
"Overall it was disappointing," he said.IANS For Latest Updates Please-
