Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Wednesday lauded women living in rural areas of the country for making "Swachh Bharat Mission" a "Jan Andolan" (mass movement).
Inaugurating "Swachh Shakti Saptah", a week-long programme of activities across the country to highlight their role in the campaign and to recognise their leadership, in Gurugram, the minister said that there would be nationwide events to honour them.
Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation Tomar said the week would culminate with a mega-event in Gujarat, named "Swachh Shakti 2017", where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address 6,000 women Sarpanches and honour them for their contribution to the campaign.
