Dismiss Kushwaha from Modi's Cabinet, says BJP's Bihar MLA Last Updated : 08 Mar 2017 06:56:50 PM IST (file photo)
A BJP MLA in Bihar on Wednesday demanded the dismissal of Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha from the Central Cabinet for what he said was repeated criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's roadshow in Varanasi.
Kushwaha is President of the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party, an ally of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance at the Centre and in Bihar. He hails from Bihar and belongs to an agrarian caste Koeri, an Other Backward Caste.
"I demand the dismissal of Upendra Kushwaha from Modi's Cabinet for playing politics like the opposition," BJP MLA Gyanendra Singh Gyanu told the media here.
Gyanu said Kushwaha's action of criticising Modi's roadshow on Saturday and Sunday was part of his game to weaken the NDA.
"The party national leadership should remove him from the NDA as well," the BJP leader said.
Kushwaha had questioned Modi's roadshow, saying it was not appropriate for the high office he held and he should address rallies only.
"I will like to tell my friends in the BJP that it is not appropriate for a Prime Minister to hold a roadshow. It is proper for a PM to hold rallies but not a roadshow," Kushwaha said in a statement.
According to senior BJP leaders here, Kushwaha's criticism of Modi's roadshow has embarrassed the party.
