A strong wind exceeding 39 km per hour kicked up a dust storm in Delhi on Saturday evening and brought respite to its residents after a sunny morning.
The weather office forecast a dust storm on Sunday also.
"The evening will remain partly cloudy and the temperature is expected to decline to 29 degrees Celsius by 9.30 p.m.," an official of the India Meteorological Department said.
Following the dust storm, the mercury in the national capital dipped to 33.6 degrees around 5.30 p.m.
Earlier, the maximum temperature in Delhi was 39.2 degrees, one notch above the season's average while the minimum was 28.9 degrees, six notches above the season's average.
"Dusty winds will bring relief from a hot day and temperatures will come to normal as per the season's average for the next four to five days," IMD scientist Ravinder Vishen said.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 39 and 26 degrees respectively.
Friday's maximum settled at 40.2 degrees, two notches above the season's average, while the minimum was 28.9 degrees, six notches above the season's average.
On Thursday, the city recorded the hottest day of this year at a maximum of 43.2 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season's average.
