'Captain Cool' retires: A peek into MS Dhoni's remarkable journey

   
Former India captain Mr Mahendra Singh Dhoni has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing down curtains on a near 16-year-long storied career of one of the country’s greatest limited-overs cricketers. The boy from Ranchi, who made his ODI debut in 2004, changed the face of Indian cricket with his calm demeanour, sharp understanding of the game and astute leadership qualities. On Saturday, MS Dhoni announced his retirement in an Instagram post. Dhoni posted a video montage with pictures at different points of his career along with a caption: "Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired." Having retired from Test cricket in December 2014 with 4876 runs from 90 games, MS carried on playing ODIs and T20Is. With 10,733 runs, Dhoni is fifth in the list of India’s all time run-scorers in ODI behind Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. His overall Indian numbers are staggering: 538 matches, 17,266 runs, 16 centuries, 108 fifties, 359 sixes, 829 dismissals.Dhoni is currently part of the Chennai Super Kings training camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and is expected to lead the team in the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League which is set to start on September 19.
