Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 9 runs each as the visitors trailed by 162 runs in their first innings.
Earlier, England lost their remaining six wickets for just 45 runs in the day’s third and final session and were bundled out for 183 in their first innings. At one stage they were 138/3 but were thwarted by the brilliant seam bowling of Jasprit Bumrah (4/46), Mohammed Shami (3/28) and Shardul Thakur (2/41).For the hosts, skipper Joe Root made 64 off 108 balls as the others failed miserably to stand up to the Indian pace bowling attack. It was England who won the toss and opted to bat against India in the first Test on Wednesday. One notable change in the Indian playing XI is the omission of spinner R Ashwin, who was benched to shore up the batting. KL Rahul is set to open with Rohit Sharma while pacers Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj replaced Ashwin and Ishant Sharma from the last Test match.India Playing XI: Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (wk), Shardul Thakur, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd Shami.England Playing XI: Rory Burns, Dominic Sibley, Zak Crawley, Joe Root(c), Jonny Bairstow, Daniel Lawrence, Jos Buttler(w), Sam Curran, Ollie Robinson, Stuart Broad, James Anderson.IANS Nottingham For Latest Updates Please-
