A suspected militant was shot dead in Dhaka on Saturday after Bangladesh police foiled an attack on a security check-post.
A Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) official told media that the suspected militant riding a motorcycle tried to enter the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), an anti-crime, anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police, check post in Khilgaon area with explosives around 4.35 a.m.
"He was shot dead on the spot," he said.
The man carried explosives in his bag, said the official, adding "we've called a bomb disposal unit".
The incident comes a day after a suicide bomber detonated himself up near a temporary RAB camp also in Dhaka.A high alert was issued across the country following Friday's "suicide blast".
Friday's blast took place a day after security forces stormed a militant hideout in Chittagong city.
Five persons including four militants were killed during the raid.IANS For Latest Updates Please-
